Ferrero is committed to offering consumers, all over the world, products of the highest quality and freshness. When feasible from the point of view of technology, taste and costs, Ferrero continues to work on the reduction of calories content and/or saturated fat and/or sugars, minimization of salt content, no-use of TFAs and valid placement of its products in the different eating episodes of the day (Meals or Between Meal Eating Episodes). For instance, the sodium content of Ferrero products normally does not exceed a level of 255 mg/100g. Since 2006, Ferrero stopped using hydrogenated fats, which are the carriers of trans-fatty-acids (TFAs). In addition, Ferrero continues to develop products containing fiber, vitamins and minerals naturally derived from the raw materials used its products (for example, focusing on hazelnuts).
During 2015, the following new products were launched with:
- Low energy content: one new chilled snack (105 kcal/portion), one new snack (116 kcal/portion), two bakery products( < 100 kcal/portion) and one new Ice Tea SKU (60 kcal/portion);
- Reduced saturated fats: one new chilled snack (-15%) and one new snack (-35%);
- Reduced sugar: one new Ice Tea SKU (- 30%);
- Reduced salt: two new chilled snack (-20%).
The majority of Ferrero products are below 150 mg/100g.
